WIT Connections: Guidelines
All mentors, mentees, facilitators and group members must be current WIT Members who are enrolled in the WIT Connections program. Individuals who create a profile can search for matches based on the criteria. A mentee or group member can send a connection request to a facilitator or mentor. Mentors and facilitators can also send requests.
Invitations should be accepted or rejected within one week. Only accept a connection request if the mentorship is a good fit based on experience, mentor needs and availability. If you need to reject a connection, you can notify the WIT team for support in finding an appropriate connection.
One-on-One
The mentee is responsible for the relationship and should set-up the first meeting with the mentor. The meeting should include discussion of communication frequency, preferred communication method and deadlines. The mentor should also provide feedback if they are concerned that the timeline or goals are unrealistic. The mentee should draft a mentoring agreement that defines the relationship and anticipated timeline.
Networking Groups
The facilitator is responsible for the relationship. They will provide all relevant information to group members, including invitations to meetings, links to discussion groups or information on text groups. Facilitators should provide basic agendas for all meetings, including potential topics so that group members can be prepared.
Outcomes
A survey will be emailed at the completion of a relationship to gauge overall experience and the outcomes.
